Facts about Vultures in India

Imaginary conversation of a girl with her mother in future

-“Oh! Did you just said vultures! Oh, that filthy scavenger! “

-“Yes, girl, you know it is a scavenger bird?”

-“Yes, Mom, I read in the book. It was very ugly too.”

-“And you know those ugly creatures cleaned some ugly parts of our society by consuming them.”

-“Ah! I see, but now they are nowhere and still, we are fine. We don’t have any ugly, bad looking scene anywhere around.”

-“Are you fine? Really? How will you describe the last viral disease which was almost taking the life of your grandma? Can you remember how scared we were?”

-“Oh, Ma! Come on! now don’t drag your filthy favorite bird in grandma’s disease.”

-“I will! girl, do you know how corrosive was the stomach acid of a vulture? Do you know the difference between a carcass eaten by a vulture or any other animal?”

-“Why should I know?”

-“Yes, you should, I have just seen a large cow carcass was dumped near our house and the tissues and flesh were spreading bad smell everywhere. The body was melting and creating a visionary disturbance. It will not be decomposed easily as it was not buried. In our childhood, we had experienced vultures eating those carcasses and clean everything.”

-“But Mom, what are you saying? Why I am not getting the smell?”

-“Child! You are putting your oxygen pipe! Get it down for a couple of minutes and experience the open air outside but along with the unbearable smell of cow carcass and some other bad garbage odour.”

-“Sorry I can’t go outside. I can’t stay without oxygen, but yes, your words are good enough.”

-“Yes my child, but good words will not bring back those days when we got free oxygen from the tree and our lives were not threatened by unnamed bacteria and virus. Good words will not bring back those days when we didn’t have garbage piles around our society.

(Silence)

-“Anyway girl! Finish your homework and don’t forget to water your pet tree and please recharge my oxygen cylinder too on your way to school, it was almost going to finish.”
