Tree Plantation in Madhya Pradesh

At one corner of Madhya Pradesh, we planted Palash and Indian Gooseberry (Amla) saplings on land adjacent to a homestay in Sanjay Dubri Tiger Reserve.

The plantation site is securely enclosed, which is extremely important because open grazing by cattle and buffaloes often prevents young trees from surviving. Fortunately, that is not a concern here, giving these saplings an excellent chance to establish themselves.

Fresh saplings were planted, including:

  • Palash (Flame of the Forest) Known for its striking orange-red flowers, Palash adds a fiery splash of colour to the landscape, especially in spring.
  • Indian Gooseberry (Amla) A small to medium-sized tree that produces greenish-yellow fruits rich in vitamin C and widely valued for their nutritional and traditional uses.

The surrounding landscape already supports a healthy population of Palash trees. During March, when they burst into their brilliant orange-red blossoms, the entire region transforms into a spectacular sea of color. We hope these newly planted saplings will one day add to that breathtaking spring landscape.
