This specially curated birding journey around Desert National Park combines intensive desert birding with the cultural charm of Jaisalmer.

Our train journey begins from Howrah on 12th November, arriving at Jaisalmer early morning on 14th November. From then onward, five days of desert exploration await.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 — 14th November Arrival at Jaisalmer & Evening Desert Birding

  • Early morning arrival at Jaisalmer Railway Station
  • Transfer to hotel and freshen up
  • Breakfast and short rest after the long train journey

Afternoon & Evening Birding Session

Our first birding excursion begins in the scrub desert habitats surrounding Jaisalmer and buffer regions of DNP.

Day 2 — 15th November Full Day Birding at Desert National Park

An early start takes us deep into the vast grassland and arid ecosystems of Desert National Park — one of India’s finest raptor and desert bird habitats.

Day 3 — 16th November Sand Dunes, Waterholes & Desert Edge Habitats

Today we explore mixed desert habitats including sand dunes, seasonal water bodies, grazing grasslands, and village edges.

Day 4 — 17th November Advanced Raptor & Bustard Search in DNP

A dedicated full-day exploration focused on difficult target species and raptors. We revisit productive zones depending on previous sightings and bird activity.

Special focus on:

  • Eagles & Vultures
  • Harriers
  • Falcons
  • Sandgrouse flyways
  • Desert passerines

This day often produces surprise sightings and excellent photography opportunities due to repeated habitat coverage and improved familiarity with the terrain.

Return after sunset.

Day 5 — 18th November Jaisalmer Heritage Tour & Departure

After breakfast, we explore the rich history and architecture of the Golden City.

Depending on train timings, transfer to railway station for return journey.
